Good afternoon, Redwood City!
All eyes on Harbor View
Seven years since the project was first proposed, a large-scale science and tech campus is on its way to Redwood City. The development, which was approved by 5 of 7 city council members during last night’s meeting, will bring 765,000 square feet of high-tech office space to a vacant lot along Graniterock and the 101 on-ramp.
This project has gone through many iterations and has been a point of contention among council members, developers and residents, who disagree about whether the benefits outweigh the costs.
Some, like Mayor Hale, applaud the $65.6 million community benefits package, including 64 units of extremely low-income housing and funding for parks and schools. Others, like Vice Mayor Reddy, said it still wasn’t enough.
What do you think? We’d love to hear from you.
Hope you’re having a good Tuesday!
Your reporter,
Leah
