Frost and freezing conditions are expected for many parts of the Bay Area late Thursday night and into Friday morning, conditions that will be hazardous to unsheltered populations.
The National Weather Service advises that people, pets, plants and pipes should be protected from the cold.
There is a freeze warning in effect for most inland portions of the Bay Area and Central Coast and a frost advisory for all coastal areas except for downtown San Francisco. The weather service expects those conditions to continue through Monday.
People should dress in layers and limit their time outside if possible. Plants should be covered or brought inside if they are sensitive to the cold, and people should bring pets inside and ensure that they have plenty of warmth.
Lows are expected to be in the 20s and 30s for most of the region.
