12:50 p.m.: Several campuses in the Redwood City School District experienced delayed or cancelled classes because of power outages caused by Tuesday’s storm, according to RCSD Director of Communications Jorge Quintana. Taft School was cancelled for the day, while North Star Academy and MIT started late.
Outages were reported at North Star Academy, MIT and Taft at 6:30 Tuesday morning. Quintana said the district immediately contacted families and staff to delay start times at all three schools. Shortly after 8:30 a.m., power was restored to North Star and MIT, and students returned to school shortly after. Taft was still without power at 10 a.m., prompting the district to cancel class.

Nearly 100,000 PG&E customers were still without power across the Bay Area as of Tuesday morning, most of whom live in the South Bay and along the Peninsula.
Strong thunderstorms, flooding and heavy winds have caused more headaches for PG&E work crews. As of 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, 52,911 PG&E customers in the South Bay and 19,053 customers along the Peninsula did not have power. In Redwood City's Friendly Acres, more than 1,000 people were without power Tuesday. Another 300 people in Palm Park were affected by the outages. PG&E doesn't have an estimated time of restoration.
Those outage totals are significantly higher than they were Monday evening, according to PG&E, because of an overnight weather system that brought lightning and wind gusts of up to 70 mph to the region.
Just 10,703 PG&E customers were without power as of 5 p.m. Monday.
Thunderstorms are expected throughout Tuesday, with wind gusts of 40-50 mph in much of the area and up to 60 mph at higher elevations.
Flash flooding is also possible, according to the forecast, if storms impact a burn scar or other hydrologically sensitive areas.
Tuesday's thunderstorms are expected to hit the entire Bay Area, stretching from Santa Rosa south to Monterey and San Benito counties.
Rain and flooding are expected to continue at moderate levels Wednesday before easing to minor levels forecast for every day this week through at least Monday of next week.
