San Mateo County is calling on residents in the region’s unincorporated areas – areas outside one of the county’s 20 cities – to help draw an accurate picture of the recent storm damage to ensure future disaster relief.
A number of winter storms have pummelled the area recently, causing the county to declare a local state of emergency on Jan. 3.
The county department of emergency management is asking the public to complete a short survey to estimate the damage caused by recent storms. The county is specifically seeking input for residents in the following communities:
- Pescadero
- La Honda
- Flooding
- San Gregorio
- El Granada
- Loma Mar
- Miramar
- Moss Beach
- Ladera
- Skylonda
- Montara
- North Fair Oaks
- Emerald Lake
- Harbor Industrial Park
- Broadmoor
- San Mateo Highlands
Completing this survey will help determine if the county qualifies for state or federal disaster assistance from the storms that began New Years Eve 2022. Completing the survey does not guarantee the region or the property owner will be eligible to receive disaster assistance.
The survey is for property owners and renters as well as business owners. It is available in English and Spanish and only takes a few minutes to complete.
The survey will be open through Jan. 28, 2023. Questions? Call 650-363-4599. Residents in need of assistance related to the storms should call 2-1-1 or 1-800-733-2767. For more information or to take part in the survey, click here.
