Good morning Redwood City!
Cannabis desert no more
Last year, the city issued four permits allowing cannabis stores to open up in Redwood City. This week, Embarc, the first cannabis storefront in Redwood City (and on the Peninsula), will make its debut on Broadway this Saturday. Its business model, it said, "is meaningful community integration," and it's asking residents to attend its grand opening this weekend. Not everyone was happy with the permits going out to cannabis stores. One resident told us she started a petition to oppose the opening of such stores and had even received signatures. But the company said it would donate 1% of sales back to the community. For more information on Embarc's event, go here.
Special Council Meeting
The city council is holding an offsite meeting at Cañada College this Saturday at 9 a.m. to discuss goals for 2023 and the status of ongoing goals. The meeting will also stream on Zoom. More information can be found here.
More news to come.
