Redwood City police officers who responded to what they believed was a shooting in Redwood Shores later found out that the call that sent them there was a prank.

On Friday around 1 p.m., the Redwood City Police Department responded to reports of a possible shooting at the 800 block of Corriente Point Drive in Redwood Shores, but once officers arrived at the home, they determined it to be what they called a "swatting" prank. Patrol officers, detectives, emergency personnel and crisis negotiators quickly responded.

Police said everyone inside the home was "fine, and there was no merit to the shooting call or any other crime."

According to RCPD, who made the call was unknown, and no one was arrested.

A "swatting" call is when an individual makes a hoax call to 911 to draw a response from law enforcement, according to the FBI.
