Good morning, Redwood City!
Powerless
Many Redwood City residents are still in the dark about when PG&E will restore power to their homes. For many, Wednesday is day two of this blackout after spending the night without electricity. Oh no!
The reason? High winds have wreaked havoc across the Bay Area, toppling trees and downing power lines. Homes have been crushed, roofs have flung off their houses, and streets have become impassable. Redwood City police were handling a high volume of calls related to the outages. Roadways are dangerous during high winds, especially when driving a tall vehicle. Winds yesterday were similar to what it's like being inside a tropical depression or a tropical storm. A tropical storm (the stronger of the two) has surface winds of about 39-74 mph, which was felt in some parts of the Bay.
We still have a wind advisory in effect until 1 p.m. with gusts as high as 30 mph.
If you've been affected by the outages, please let me know. If you were one of the people who spent the night without power, I want to hear from you. I want to know how you fared. Please respond to this email or email me directly at miracheta@rwcpulse.com.
Send your outage photos (fallen trees, downed power lines, etc…).
News to come.
