Happy Thursday! Here's what's happening around town that you should know about:

In case you missed it, Kristin Bell has been appointed Redwood City's new police chief, effective June 5. Bell has held various positions within the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office and has worked with communities and youth in Redwood City and North Fair Oaks.

Today is Doug McGowan's last blog for the Pulse. Read The cold-blooded killers who staged a suicide in San Mateo County Jail here from The Crime Files. We are in the process of signing on a few new bloggers. Stay tuned for some new blogs in the coming months.

Donate your shoes to Bay Area students in need just in time for the start of the 2023 school year. Anyone can drop off donations at Redwood Shores nonprofit My New Red Shoes located at 330 Twin Dolphin Drive any Wednesday or Thursday during business hours.

Students at Menlo-Atherton High School held a protest yesterday after a student was pinned down by police near the high school campus on April 28. Read more about the incident here. Videos of the demonstration can be found on M-A Black Student Union's Instagram

Woodside Priory Theater presents a comedy, "The Werewolf's Curse." It's a send-up of classic 30's monster movies, appropriate for all ages, full of physical comedy, snappy dialogue and bad puns. All are invited to the show tonight or tomorrow evening at 7 p.m. Or catch the matinee on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Woodside Priory School.

Beautiful wildflowers are sprouting up near Redwood City! You can see all kinds of blooms on a series of free wildflower hikes this weekend. More information here, reservations required. By the way, did you see our recommendations for where to find wildflowers in the 650?
