Good morning, Redwood City!
This month we're celebrating the voices of Asian American and Pacific Islander community members who are making a difference in our town. We started our series with John Kim, the owner of Talk of Broadway, Vons Chicken and Yokohama. Originally from Korea, Kim was only 16 when he and his family moved to the U.S., but since then, Kim's restaurant, Talk of Broadway, has become a staple in Redwood City. If you haven't been there, you're missing out-BIG TIME! Read our interview with John Kim here.
In other news, San Mateo County is encouraging at-risk residents to get vaccinated against Mpox (formerly monkeypox) ahead of summer Pride celebrations. Although the risk of Mpox is low, the County has reported a new incident this month.
I also want to warmly welcome our newest blogger, Alice Kaufman, a Redwood City resident and environmental policy advocate. She will be writing about "All things green." Any suggestions? Send them over, and I'll pass them along.
And finally, we want to thank Elaine Park for today's Photo of the Day, which features a local Superbloom: Layia platyglossa or Tidy Tips in Edgewood Park! If you want to share a photo or comment, email me at editor@rwcpulse.com.
Have a great day!
Michelle
