At last night's meeting, Redwood City Council members recognized Asian and Pacific Islander American Heritage Month and Pride Month. City Council members expressed appreciation for Kevin Bondonna, retiring Planning Commissioner. A reception was held before the meeting to appreciate former Chief of Police Dan Mulholland and celebrate his retirement. City Manager Melissa Stevenson Diaz announced the appointment of Kristina Bell as Redwood City's new Chief of Police, effective June 5.

City Council appointed Michael Aguilar, Shanon Chee and Jacqueline Ramos to fill vacancies on the Transportation Advisory Committee. Natalie Sheehan was appointed to fill a vacancy on the Arts Commission. 

The Council also gave an update on the development of regulations regarding the retail sale of firearms and ammunition. No decisions were made. 

The Council also reviewed the Annual Military Equipment Use Report and considered the authorization for the Redwood City Police Department to possess and operate an armored rescue vehicle purchased and owned by the Port of Redwood City. The authorization passed 6-1 with Vice Mayor Espinoza-Garnica dissenting. 

 

In other news, San Mateo County will receive $3.5 million in federal funds to provide a home for 20 families or individuals. More here
