The Redwood City Police Department arrested a man Wednesday on suspicion of possessing a gun and narcotics, according to the department.

Detectives from the Street Crime Suppression Team conducted the traffic stop, where they found around two pounds of cocaine, evidence of drug sales, and a loaded 9mm “ghost” gun. 

The arrest happened at Whipple Avenue and U. S. Highway 101 following a traffic stop, police said. 

The 36-year-old Darren Hughes of Pinole had been under investigation by the Drug Enforcement Agency’s San Jose and Chicago offices, along with the Redwood City Police Department’s Street Crime Suppression Team. 

After the arrest was made, Hughes was taken into custody by Federal officials. Hughes made his initial court appearance in federal court on June. 29.
