Good morning, Redwood City!

I recently moved into the Central neighborhood and have been trying to better understand my surroundings. I'm within walking distance of a dog park, perfect for my mini doodle, Kooper. West of my house is everyone's favorite intersection–Hudson and Madison. Improvements to the mini-traffic circle began in March 2022 and were estimated to cost around $450,000. The idea was to add paint, planters and curb extensions to enhance the circle but not interrupt drainage and to calm traffic. More than a year later, some residents are still unhappy about the improvements. Have something to say? Please email us at editor@rwcpulse.com.

East of my home is Elco Yards, which is scheduled for completion in 2025. While the city has prohibited BSL3 and BSL4 labs in downtown Redwood City, the city doesn't regulate BSL levels outside of downtown.

According to our reporter, the parcels of land acquired by IQHQ, a life sciences real estate development company, are slated to have two residential buildings with 540 units built and four buildings for labs and offices. The mixed-use development will be sandwiched between multi-family housing neighborhoods on El Camino Real and Pennsylvania Street. Only two parcels will be used for R&D. So, while no labs are slated to be installed now, the building will accommodate BSL 3 facilities.
