Redwood City police are asking the public to help solve an attack on a man that occurred at the Arco gas station on Whipple Avenue on Wednesday, Sept. 20.

Around 11:11 p.m., police received a report of a possibly intoxicated man walking in and out of traffic on Whipple Avenue and Veterans Boulevard. The caller then separately reported to dispatchers that the man got into a fight with a couple at the Arco gas station, located at 504 Whipple Ave., and he was knocked unconscious.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the victim unconscious near the gas pumps. Two witnesses said the man had been in a dispute with a couple in a blue Kia Sol. 

The male suspect began fighting with the victim and ultimately knocked him out. The female started assaulting the victim on the ground while he was unconscious, the witnesses told police. The couple fled in their car, driving west on Whipple Avenue.

The suspect vehicle had Washington State license plates with unknown numbers. The male was described as Hispanic and in his 20s, with short, curly hair and wearing a black hoodie with “Cookies” lettering.  The female is Hispanic and in her 20s with light brown, shoulder-length hair.  

The victim was taken to Stanford Hospital with head injuries, police said.
