Good morning, Redwood City!
On Thursday, CAL Fire is planning a controlled burn on an estimated 89 acres near Upper Crystal Springs Reservoir. They'll focus their attention around Sheep Camp Trail by I-280, specifically on Burn Plot #5, which is on the west side of the interstate. They aim to cut down on some fire fuel, help prevent big wildfires, and boost our dwindling coastal prairie habitat. It's just a one-day event, but heads up: you might spot some smoke wafting over to places like Woodside, Emerald Hills, Belmont, and even the San Carlos Hills. And if you're wondering about that chopper in the sky or the parade of fire trucks? All part of the plan! But please, no need to hit up 911.
This weekend, Caltrans is giving the old Cordilleras Creek Bridge a bit of a makeover. That means they're shutting down the highway in both directions for a bit. Heads up for the southbound crew: the lanes will be out of commission starting 10 p.m. on Sept. 29th, and they won't open up again until 5 a.m. on Oct. 2nd. So, maybe reroute or grab some snacks for a longer ride. A closure will happen again between Oct. 13-16.
Thanks to longtime reader Beverly Morgan, who sent us today's photo of the sunset behind some sycamores. We always appreciate photos from our readers.
