Good morning, Redwood City,
On Monday, the city of Redwood City settled another claim by a Docktown Marina resident. The Redwood City Council unanimously approved a $190,000 settlement for Emilio Diaz, a resident of Docktown Marina, to vacate his floating home. This agreement concludes Diaz's involvement in a lawsuit against the city and an unlawful detainer proceeding initiated by the city. Diaz was part of the 2017 Fambrough case in which 21 residents asserted their rights to either stay at Docktown or receive compensation like relocation assistance. These residents own their floating homes and pay docking fees. Council members Lissette Espinoza-Garnica and Kaia Eakin were absent from the vote. More on this story later.
Thanks to Carla Sillin for her photo of the sunset as seen from the Redwood City Elks Lodge.
