Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Good morning, Redwood City,

In the Sequoia Union High School District's recent blended 9th-grade classes program, where students of varying levels and abilities are placed together, promising outcomes have emerged. The approach was intended to provide greater equity and better student results, and data has shown that, in some cases, it has enhanced success rates in college prerequisite courses without hampering high-achieving students. But not everyone agrees. Some students and parents call for a return to the old system, arguing that blended classes limit top performers. And teachers and data underscore the benefits of the program. The district trustees heard about this report at the Sept. 20 board meeting. More on this story later.
