In a case of mistaken identity, two adults armed with a metal pipe allegedly assaulted a group of juveniles they believed to be the ones involved in a strong-armed robbery earlier in the week, according to the Redwood City Police Department.

But the confrontation, which took place at the In-N-Out parking lot on Oct. 6 around 9 p.m., took a turn when the group of juveniles were able to wrangle the pipe away from the adults and "used it on the suspects but not consistent with self-defense," police said.

Four suspects, including three adults and one juvenile, were arrested following the felony assault at the In-N-Out located at 949 Veterans Boulevard, according to the Redwood City Police Department. Their ages included a 17-year-old, an 18-year-old, a 41-year-old and a 47-year-old.

The adult suspects were booked into the San Mateo County Jail, while the juvenile is currently at the San Mateo County Youth Services Center.

The police confirmed that several individuals sustained injuries during the assault, some of which were serious. All have since been released from the hospital.

The Redwood City Police Department urges anyone with further information about this incident to reach out at 650-780-7100. For those with tips on other Redwood City cases, the Tip Line is available at 650-780-7110.
