“Following her outstanding service as Assistant and Interim City Clerk, I am very pleased to announce Yessika Castro will be Redwood City’s next City Clerk,” said City Manager Melissa Stevenson Diaz. “Yessika has an exceptional professional background and is already effectively serving the City Council, the City organization, and the community. She brings a deep service orientation and a highly collaborative spirit that complements our organizational focus on excellence.”
Castro isn't new to city hall; she's stepping up from her role as interim city clerk. She takes the reins from Pamela Aguilar, who decided to retire earlier this year. Castro comes with a hefty resume—more than 15 years in local government, including time spent as assistant and interim city clerk in Redwood City and as deputy city clerk over in Fairfield.
She holds several professional certifications, including Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) and California Professional Municipal Clerk (CPMC), and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Community and Regional Development from the University of California, Davis.
