Today's top story is how rising vacancy rates are impacting our city. San Mateo County, particularly Redwood City, is grappling with economic challenges due to a shift towards remote work since the COVID-19 pandemic. Over 30,000 San Mateo County residents, or about 7.82%, now work from home, causing a significant increase in commercial and office space vacancies, reaching 25% in Redwood City, specifically.
