Shasta Addessi has been appointed senior vice president and area manager for Kaiser Permanente’s San Mateo Service Area, overseeing Redwood City and South San Francisco medical centers. She will manage operations for the area serving over 257,000 members.

Addessi, who was the interim SVP since April, succeeds Sheila Gilson.
“I grew up in San Mateo County and have been a long-time Kaiser Permanente member, so I take great pride in being a part of delivering high-quality, affordable health care to the communities we serve,” Addessi said.
She will oversee 2,100 employees and focus on increasing access to care, highlighting the specialized neurological services at Redwood City’s Advanced Neuroscience Center. Both centers have received multiple honors for patient safety and maternity care.
Addessi began her healthcare career at San Mateo Medical Center, held leadership roles at Mills-Peninsula Medical Center, and joined Kaiser Permanente in 2021 as COO at Santa Clara Medical Center. She holds degrees from the University of Michigan and resides in San Mateo County with her family.
