LoCal Libations and 3rdThursday
On the heels of celebrating its second anniversary last month, Palo Alto’s 3rdThursday live music event helps ring in the summer on the eve of the solstice with performances by three bands: classic rockers The Dream Tellers, community choir The World Harmony Chorus and bluegrass band Stoney Mountain Ramblers. The event is teaming up with the second annual LoCal Libations, which gives wine lovers a chance to stroll along California Avenue and sample the offerings of 10 Santa Cruz Mountain wineries. As always, some area merchants and restaurants will be offering specials or extended hours.

June 19, 6-9 p.m., along California Avenue, Palo Alto. Music is free; wine tasting tickets are $45 per person in advance and $55 at the door. 3rdthursday.fun.

‘Symphony of Color and Joy’
The right piece of art may bring something special to a room, but artist Jan Meyer does that idea one better with her detailed paintings of rooms, which are featured in her solo show this month at Gallery 9, “Symphony of Color and Joy.” Her pieces offer zoomed-out still-lifes of welcoming, cozy spaces, with an appealing sense of the lives that might be lived in these rooms; in addition, she creates smaller scenes, particularly vases of flowers, abundant with painterly blooms. Meyer uses bright patterns and bold shapes and her works draw on influences of artists such as Matisse, Derain, Bonnard and Hockney, according to an event announcement. She has also painted murals that can be seen in downtown Los Altos.

On view Tuesdays-Saturdays, 11 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sundays noon-5 p.m. through June 29 at Gallery 9, 143 Main St., Los Altos; free admission; gallery9losaltos.com.

Juneteenth at Movies on the Square
As part of Redwood City’s Juneteenth celebrations this month, the city’s weekly summer outdoor film series highlights the holiday. The evening kicks off with screenings of two shorts by Black independent filmmakers presented by the Bravemaker Film Festival: “Saving All My Love,” about a former pageant queen who must confront her mother’s hoarding, and “Time Setters,” about a group of time-traveling vigilantes who set out to save Emmett Till. Following the shorts will be “Bob Marley: One Love,” a biopic about the music, career and life of reggae legend Bob Marley.

June 19, 8 p.m., at Courthouse Square, 2200 Broadway, Redwood City; free admission; redwoodcity.org.
