A good Samaritan rescued two people and a dog from the San Francisco Bay on Monday afternoon after their boat, “Lucid Dream,” caught fire, prompting them to jump into the water, according to fire officials.
The good Samaritan, who was also on a boat, transported the individuals to shore, where paramedics evaluated them. One individual, who was injured, was transported to Kaiser Permanente.
West Point Harbor declined to name the good Samaritan.
According to Westpoint Harbor officials, the boat was in a channel when it caught fire and not in Westpoint Harbor. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The aflame boat drifted into the wetlands, starting a grass fire, both of which were extinguished before 2:30 P.M.
Redwood City fire officials had to request a fireboat from San Francisco International Airport to extinguish the fire as Redwood City’s only vessel with firefighting capabilities was out of service due to scheduled maintenance.

Firefighters used a drone to surveil the boat while it was on fire and used infrared to verify that it had been extinguished.
Officials also brought in containment booms, which contain and absorb contaminants from the boat.
Redwood City Fire officials operated out of Westpoint Harbor.
