A man who allegedly robbed a bank and then plopped down in the bank’s lounge area was arrested Tuesday in Redwood City, according to police.

The suspect, 66, entered the Chase Bank on Broadway in Redwood City just before 2:30 p.m. and allegedly gave the teller a note demanding money. Bank employees activated a silent alarm, which led to a heavy law enforcement response, police said.

After allegedly committing the robbery, the suspect didn’t leave but instead took a seat in the lounge area of the bank, according to police.

The bank was evacuated and the suspect voluntarily left the business. He was then detained and taken into custody.

The man, who is from San Diego, was then booked into jail on suspicion of robbery.
