January 11, 1930 – February 14, 2022
We honor together our loving parents who passed just a year apart. Both hard working, responsible 'Depression babies', born and raised in Oakland, CA. Later longtime residents of Belmont, CA. Married for 73 years sharing a love for music, dancing, design, gardening and most of all, their 5 children who survive them: Robin (John); Panda (Ken); Denny; Charmaine (Matt); Derek (Tatiana). Plus, 3 grandchildren: Janelle, JP, & Adrianna. Greta had a beloved, predeceased older sister, Patricia, and their mother was born to Norwegian parents. Frank, the 7th of 8 children (all predeceased) born to Portuguese parents, was a proud WW2 Navy vet & UC Berkeley graduate, Class of '53. Practicing architect for 64 years. Belmont City Councilman & Mayor. A talented artist, designer, and builder. Huge history buff and Cal football fan. Dad was smart and ambitious. There was nothing Dad couldn't do, nor Mom. They were hipsters. Both athletic. Mom with her radiant, dimpled smile was beautiful, inside and out; a creative cook, homemaker, design enthusiast, and 'one liner' deliverer and punster. A caring friend and loving mother to their 5 children. She was friendly and fun; empathetic, clever, curious about others, and thrilled to entertain and make people laugh. They were decent folks with strong ethics and values reflective of the Greatest Generation.
Frank would not be Frank without Greta and vice versa. Together they were one formidable force, supporting and complementing each other to build a lasting partnership and family. They had immense love for one another and fun dancing Swing together for over 70 years. We will cherish our wonderful memories of Mom and Dad and hold them forever in our hearts.
Frank's Funeral Mass will be held Wed., April 12, 2023 at 11am. at St Mark Catholic Church, Belmont CA. Reception follows at rectory.
Greta's Funeral Mass was held Feb., 23, 2022 at St Mark Church.
