What is your favorite memory from high school?
Where do I even begin? There are countless memories I want to share. One I want to highlight was our Senior Ditch Day. Although it wasn’t affiliated with Sequoia High School, it’s a tradition for the senior class to arrange a ditch day. It was perfect: the weather, the snacks, the people playing competitive volleyball games, and, of course, the awesome pictures. It was a great way for all of us to get together during our last final days.
What’s a word that describes your senior year?
A word I’d describe the senior year as bittersweet because although I’m eager for a new chapter, I’m not really ready to say goodbye to this one.
What song defines your senior year?
“I’ll Always Remember You” by Hannah Montana because it describes my senior year in a nutshell.
Which class do you think prepared you most for life after high school?
I believe my junior year Entrepreneurship class really set me up for the pros and cons life or “adulting” has in store for me since I learned about how stressful, time-consuming, yet amazing the business industry is. It was a great “learn by doing” experience, as I was able to create my own small business. In ten years, I’ll be working in a big company and, hopefully, in another five extra years, becoming a successful business owner.
What’s the top piece of advice that you would give to incoming high schoolers?
I’d like to advise incoming freshmen to build relationships with those around them. Whether this is done through joining clubs or sports, befriending students in your math class, or getting to know your teachers better, it opens up so many opportunities, like getting great letters of recommendation and some lifelong friendships. Making many connections opens up so many doors for you in the long run.
What are you most proud of accomplishing or overcoming in high school?
I’m most proud of accomplishing in high school was balancing my academics, work, and life in general while creating a memorable and fun high school experience.
