The CZI Community Space in San Mateo County is expanding its access, allowing more community organizations to use its facilities for events and meetings.
This expansion marks a significant development for local nonprofits like Leadership Council San Mateo County (SMC), which have found the space invaluable for hosting events and training sessions.
Leadership Council SMC has held several events at the CZI Community Space, including San Mateo County’s first Newly Elected Leaders Training with speakers like Congresswoman Jackie Speier.
Beginning in January, the CZI Community Space will welcome its grantees, other nonprofit organizations, and local government agencies in San Mateo County and Redwood City.
Using the Community Space free of charge has been critical in helping the organization lead its training sessions.
Alma Pulido, CZI’s Community Affairs Program Officer, expressed enthusiasm about the space becoming available to a wider array of community-based organizations, anticipating a variety of learning and networking events in the future.
The Community Space has already hosted significant events, such as a Juneteenth commemoration organized by the County of San Mateo, Redwood City Together, and Cinequest.
Shireen Malekafzali, Chief Equity Officer for the County of San Mateo, highlighted the importance of such a resource, especially for smaller organizations that often lack access to well-resourced, inclusive spaces. The expansion of access to the CZI Community Space is expected to broaden its impact on the community significantly.
CZI recently held an open house on Jan. 18 to celebrate this expansion. Further details on the program expansion and membership guidelines can be found on the CZI Community Space website.
