The Redwood Police Department said it cited 64 drivers during a recent pedestrian safety operation, where it focused on those who failed to yield to pedestrians in crosswalks.

The operation took place at the intersection of El Camino Real and Finger Avenue in Redwood City from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 18.

In total, the police cited 63 citations for 21950(a) CVC: (Driver failed to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk), and/or 21951(a) CVC (passing a vehicle stopped for a pedestrian in a crosswalk), and 1 citation for an outstanding warrant.

The operation, funded by the Office of Traffic Safety Grant, focused on reducing pedestrian-related accidents by ensuring that drivers obey traffic laws, particularly yielding to pedestrians in crosswalks.
