More than 80 drivers received citations in an enforcement operation in Redwood City focused on pedestrian safety Wednesday, according to police.
The operation took place over several hours at two intersections — Jefferson Avenue and St. Francis Street, and El Camino Real and Finger Avenue.
Officers issued 80 citations to drivers for either failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk or passing a vehicle stopped for a pedestrian in a crosswalk, Redwood City police said.
Three others were cited for driving without a valid license, while one person was cited for running a red light, one for running a stop sign, and one for operating a cellphone while driving, according to police.
The operation was funded by the state’s Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
