It’s Spring, and while there’s the impulse to do some spring cleaning in April, it’s also a great time to appreciate all the amazing things your Redwood City libraries provide. This week, Redwood City libraries are marking National Library Week from April 7 through April 13.
The Redwood City Library Foundation is seizing this opportunity to encourage donations through Library Giving Week, emphasizing the value and services libraries offer to the community.

To involve even the youngest patrons, a pink piggy bank has been placed at the children’s desk at the Downtown Redwood City Library. Until April 12, children are welcome to contribute, highlighting the foundation’s aim to foster a sense of community and giving from an early age, according to a statement from the RCLF.

National Library Week serves as a reminder of the significant role libraries hold within communities, providing a range of services beyond book lending. This year’s theme, “How do you library?” invites patrons to reflect on their library experiences, whether it’s getting lost in a summer reading program, finding a quiet study spot, or exploring a makerspace.
The Redwood City Public Library, with its branches including Downtown, Redwood Shores, and Schaberg, offers many services beyond book lending. The library is a hub of activity and resources, from Story Times and Singalongs to maker spaces, computer and iPad lending, and Wi-Fi hot spots.
As National Library Week progresses, the Redwood City Library Foundation encourages donations and visits, inviting the community to discover or rediscover their library resources. This celebration is about acknowledging the libraries’ offerings and strengthening the bond between the libraries and the community they serve.
