Kaiser Permanente Redwood City hospital received an “A” grade for patient safety from The Leapfrog Group in its spring 2026 hospital safety grades.

The nonprofit evaluates nearly 3,000 hospitals nationwide twice a year, assigning letter grades based on measures such as patient injuries, medical and medication errors and infections.

Nine Kaiser Permanente hospitals in Northern California received A grades, including Redwood City, Fresno, Manteca, Modesto, San Leandro, San Rafael, South Sacramento, South San Francisco and Vacaville.

“The safety of our patients and members is always top of mind as we provide high-quality, exceptional care,” said Shasta Addessi, Kaiser Permanente San Mateo service area senior vice president and area manager.

Nationally, 23 of Kaiser Permanente’s 40 hospitals received an A grade, according to Kaiser.
