Jane Stanford, the wealthy, eccentric Gilded Age matriarch of Stanford University, led a life of luxury and heartache, her death surrounded in infamous mystery (by poisoning, while on vacation in Hawaii!). Stanford’s Cantor Arts Center’s new exhibition “JANE!” brings together quirky artifacts such as paintings, clothing and “spooky messages from beyond the grave,” some of which are being shown for the very first time, according to Stanford.

July 2 through May 18, 2028, Cantor Arts Center, 328 Lomita Drive, Stanford; open Monday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and weekends from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; free; events.stanford.edu/event/jane-an-intimate-exploration-of-gilded-age-excess-and-the-enigmatic-life-and-death-of-jane-stanford

The band features Karla Kane, vocals, ukulele; Khoi Huynh, bass, vocals and other instruments; KC Bowman, guitar, vocals and other instruments; and Charlie Crabtree, drums. (Kane is also Embarcadero Media’s Assistant Lifestyles Editor). The band performs in Woodside ahead of a summer tour of England.
