Marley Rose-Teter
Local author Marley Rose-Teter discusses her debut YA novel “The Bone Brides” in conversation with fellow author Samantha Chong at an event at Linden Tree Books. The cozy dark fantasy follows Nola, a girl grieving the loss of her father who must enter the haunting faery realm, ruled by a fearsome queen, to save her love Lumi, a faery changeling who’s been kidnapped and is at risk of being trapped “not only in faeryland but in a skin that’s not her own,” Linden Tree’s event page states.

Erick Peralta
Pianist, composer and arranger Erick Peralta comes to Meyhouse to perform his blend of American jazz with Afro-Latin rhythms. Influenced by his Peruvian heritage and jazz expertise, he plays original compositions as well as fresh arrangements of classic pieces. “Rather than simply revisiting familiar repertoire, Peralta and his ensemble reshape it through an Afro-Latin lens,” according to Meyhouse. Peralta is joined by Ernesto Mazar Kindelan on bass, Emilio Davalos on drums and Silvestre Martínez on percussion.
Oct. 10, 5 p.m., Meyhouse Jazz, 640 Emerson St., Palo Alto; $38-$48; meyhousejazz.com.
