Redwood City has named Beth Goldberg its new finance director.
City Manager Melissa Stevenson Diaz announced the appointment on Tuesday, highlighting Goldberg’s over 25 years of experience managing various public sector agencies’ financial and policy aspects.
Goldberg’s career includes significant roles such as budget director for the City of Seattle, administrative services director for the City of Sammamish, finance director for the City of Issaquah, and deputy city manager for the City of Kirkland.
She is credited with major achievements, including revamping the finance department in Issaquah and playing a key role in Seattle’s financial recovery following the Great Recession, according to a city press release.
In her statement, Goldberg expressed enthusiasm for her new role and commitment to fiscal responsibility and community development in Redwood City.

Goldberg holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Washington’s Evans School of Public Policy & Governance and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from the University of California.
She will assume the position beginning on March 25 with an annual salary of $253,000.
This is the third senior-level staff appointment the city has announced in the past month.
On Tuesday, Feb. 20, the city announced the appointment of Amanda Anthony as economic development manager to replace Simon Vuong. Anthony’s annual salary is $175,000 and she began on March 11.

On Thursday, March 7, the city announced that Patrick Heisinger, who stepped in as interim assistant city manager last August to fill Vuong’s shoes, had been appointed assistant city manager. His salary is $272,500, and he began his new role on March 11.
