San Mateo County Parks is hosting a ribbon-cutting event for the opening of a new playground at Flood Park, located at 215 Bay Road in Menlo Park. The event will be held from 8:30 to 10 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 10.

The play structure features a climbing tower, zip lines, slides, spinners and swings, along with informal play space and a separate area for children ages 2 to 5.

The long-awaited opening of the playground was expected in June but was delayed over safety concerns because the metal slide reached dangerously high temperatures in the summer.
