The Sequoia Union High School District received an upgraded bond rating from S&P Global Ratings, according to a Dec. 4 press release. The rating was upgraded from AA to AAA which will allow the district to borrow money at lower interest rates.
“We are proud of the strong fiscal management and stewardship of taxpayer dollars that led to the upgraded rating,” said Superintendent Crystal Leach in a prepared statement. “This puts us in an excellent position to maximize the improvements identified by our Facilities Master Plan that are the foundation of Measure W.”
Measure W was approved by voters in November 2022 to fund projects across district campuses. The upgraded bond rating “determines the amount of interest paid by taxpayers when the district repays money borrowed to pay for facility improvements funded by Measure W,” according to the press release.
