Good morning, Redwood City!
Yesterday an investigation by ABC7 News revealed a major oversight by San Mateo County.
According to last night’s report, $10 million worth of PPE were left in the rain outside the San Mateo County Event Center. Masks and other protective gear, which had been there for months, were found damaged from recent storms. The County apologized for the mistake, promising it wouldn’t happen again. It’s unclear exactly how this happened.
In other news, our history blogger has a new nugget of local history for you.
“In 1895 something groundbreaking—at the time—took place in Redwood City,” Dan Calic writes. “The very first high school between San Francisco and San Jose opened.” It was called Sequoia Union High School. Read the full story here.
Speaking of Sequoia High School, tomorrow the campus will host open tryouts for Bay Cities FC’s women's soccer team.
I’ll be there covering the event from 2-4:30 p.m. If you see me, say hi!
That’s all for now…enjoy your weekend.
Signing off,
Leah
