Good morning, Redwood City!
The battle for Redwood LIFE
Yesterday, I took a tour of the existing Redwood LIFE campus, the site of a major, million-square-foot development proposed over the next 20+ years. The goals, Longfellow project managers told me, include expanding office and lab space, constructing more environmentally friendly buildings and transforming the acres of surface parking into community green space.
But some residents aren't so sure. I've heard from folks in several opposition groups—Save the Shores and Stop Redwood LIFE—who are concerned about noise, pollution and other environmental impacts of this long-term construction project.
The developers are currently awaiting feedback from the city on their recently submitted project plans. Much more to come on that soon…I'll be following along closely.

We've got a great story from our history blogger, Dan Calic, today. Click here to read about some home-grown '70s radicals and the day the media descended on our own Cañada College.
Happy reading, and enjoy your weekend!
