In a vote by six of the present members of the Redwood City Council, five items on the consent agenda were approved, while one item had to be voted on separately after Mayor Jeff Gee recused himself due to a conflict of interest.
The item in question was related to parcel agreements for the five-story Redwood Shores office development at 240 Twin Dolphin Dr.
The application for the development was originally submitted in 2019, and the development was approved by the planning commission in 2021.
The five-story office building totals more than 200,000 square feet, has a five-story parking garage and 690 private spots, 60 bike parking spaces and improved access to the Belmont Creek Trail.
“In doing my research, my parent company has done work for the applicant that’s referenced in ‘8B’,” said Mayor Gee. “I'd like to do is ask for a motion to approve consent other than item ‘8B’.”
Gee is the company's vice president, Swinerton Management and Consulting, which is part of the main Swinerton company that helped 200-240 Twin Dolphins LLC, the applicant for the office development.
With Gee’s vote and council member Diane Howard absent, it took only five votes to pass items on the consent calendar.
What was approved:
- $167,537 for bike lane sweepers, with funds set aside from the "People's Budget."
- $430,490 for the purchase of two 2023 John Deere 320P Backhoe Loaders
- Parcel agreements for the 5-story Redwood Shores office development
- Construction improvements for the development at 612 Jefferson Avenue and release of associated bonds.
- Minutes from March 13, 2023 Regular City Council Minutes and March 20, 2023 Special City Council Minutes.
- Claims and checks from April 3, 2023 to April 24, 2023 will be approved including the necessary payments through April 24, 2023
