“Goatland” is coming to Sunnyvale.

Stephanie Izard, a James Beard Award-winning chef and “Top Chef” and “Iron Chef” winner, is opening her latest restaurant in Sunnyvale early next year. Valley Goat, located within Treehouse Hotel Silicon Valley, will offer a seasonal menu with “fresh, locally sourced ingredients and bold, globally-inspired flavors,” according to a press release. Izard also owns a slew of restaurants (called “Goatland”) in Chicago: Girl & the Goat, Cabra (which translates to Goat), Little Goat Diner and Duck Duck Goat.

“My last name, ‘Izard,’ is actually a type of mountain goat that lives in the French Pyrenees!” Izard wrote in an email. “I’ve loved incorporating it into my projects throughout the years. We’re looking for a local goat farm to partner with in NorCal, so that we can serve goat, but are still on the hunt.”

Valley Goat will be Izard’s third California restaurant, with the others being the Los Angeles outposts of Girl & the Goat and Cabra. Valley Goat will offer a similar style of cuisine to Girl & the Goat, and while there will be some menu overlap between the restaurants, “Valley Goat will have its own menu and items, largely based on what (Valley Goat) receive(s) from the farms and produces that (it) will be working with,” Izard wrote in an email.

Valley Goat will offer seasonal cocktails, as well as nonalcoholic and low-ABV options. The wine program, which includes an extensive by-the-glass list, will include “interesting and off-the-beaten path bottles that are still approachable and delicious,” according to a press release.

Valley Goat, like Izard’s other restaurants, is in collaboration with Boka Restaurant Group, which was founded by James Beard Award-winning restauranteurs Rob Katz and Kevin Boehm in 2002. The Sunnyvale restaurant “will have a bright, sunny dining room, large outdoor patio and lively bar area,” and will be open for brunch, lunch and dinner next year, according to a press release.

“I already love being in California and am excited to learn more about the Bay Area and become more ingrained in the community,” Izard wrote in an email. “The Bay Area has such incredible restaurants, hotels, farms, and vintners – I’m really excited to be around such talented people.”

Correction: An earlier version of this post said that Valley Goat would be Stephanie Izard’s second California restaurant. The Peninsula Foodist regrets this error.
