Enouch Ray Ricks, 73 of Redwood City passed away peacefully at home on March 26, 2023.
Enouch Ray Ricks was born on December 27, 1949 to Leola Brooks-Ricks and Robert Perryman in Clarksdale, Mississippi. In the early 1960’s Ray moved from Mississippi to Florida, shortly after, moving to Redwood City/East Palo Alto California with his mother, stepfather Johnnie B. Shelton and sister Dorothy Ricks-Tolliver where they now called home. He attended Hoover Elementary and Sequoia High School in Redwood City. Ray began his work career driving big rigs in his early teens and as an adult, he entered the construction industry and working on cars as a side hobby.
Late 1960’s, Ray met Sharon Payne, welcoming their first son Dwane Lee on March 15, 1970, their baby girl Debra Ann on January 30, 1972, and their youngest son Enouch Ray Jr. on July 2, 1974.
Late 1974, he met the love of his life, Kathy Furman and they married on April 26, 1975. They began a beautiful family in Redwood City Ca. with their first born, Amy Lynn on March 17, 1976, Jason Thomas on July 20, 1977 and Kevin James on July 29, 1980.
As a teen/early adult, Ray enjoyed working on cars, selling watermelons and recycling scrap metal with his stepfather, family camping trips, rabbit and frog hunting, sitting on the banks fishing and being outdoors. He was an avid sports lover, a fan of the SF Giant, Golden State Warriors and Green Bay Packers. He would watch or attend sports with family and friends regularly.
Ray also enjoyed traveling, he and Kathy travelled to various places over the last 10 years. Several trips to Oceanside California, Portland Oregon and Hawaii, to name a few, for weekend getaways. Over their 49 year union, they were very family oriented, hosting holiday dinners, birthdays and misc. celebrations.
Ray leaves behind his sweetheart/wife Kathy of 49 years. He is survived by his mother Leola, his sister Dorothy Ricks-Tolliver; he’s children Debra, Amy, Jason and Kevin. Daughter- in-law Mariela Ricks and brother-in-law Ken Tolliver and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins and loved ones. Preceded in death by his son’s Dwane and Enouch Jr., father, Robert Perryman, and stepfather Johnnie B. Shelton.
Kathy would like to thank grandchildren TaLayah, Arthur, Alaysha and Mission Hospice for taking such good care of Ray.
Ray will be deeply missed by family and friends.
