Rosanne Foust, president and CEO of the San Mateo County Economic Development Association and a former Redwood City mayor, has been appointed to the San Francisco Bay Ferry Board of Directors.

California Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas appointed Foust to the five-member board, according to San Francisco Bay Ferry. She will join the board at its May 14 meeting.

Foust replaces Jessica Alba, who recently resigned from the board, according to Alexis Matsui, a spokesperson for San Francisco Bay Ferry. Foust will serve the rest of Alba’s term, which expires Jan. 1, 2030.

Foust has led SAMCEDA’s work on economic development and regional partnerships and has advocated for transportation projects, including Caltrain electrification, according to the ferry agency. She previously served 12 years on the Redwood City Council, including as mayor and vice mayor, and spent 10 years on the San Mateo County Transportation Authority Board of Directors.

The San Francisco Bay Ferry Board of Directors sets policy for the regional transit agency, which operates ferry routes connecting Alameda, Oakland, Richmond, San Francisco, South San Francisco and Vallejo.
