Redwood City is gearing up for an event that blends community spirit with a taste of local culture.
The upcoming wine walk, organized by The Rotary Club of Redwood City and The Redwood City Education Foundation, aims to support the Redwood City School District, particularly the three Bayside schools lacking Parent-Teacher Organizations (PTOs) or Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs).
Participants will start their stroll at the library in downtown Redwood City, moving through 16 local restaurants and bars, including Alhambra, Angelicas, Blacksmith, The BottleShop, and others. Each location will offer exclusive specials and discounts to ticket holders, although it is important to note that the cost of wine and other beverages is not covered by the ticket price.
Early bird tickets are currently on sale at a $10 discount, with prices set to rise after May 1. The event on May 15 is scheduled for adults aged 21 and over, with check-in beginning 30 minutes before the event at 4:30 p.m. in front of the library. The first 200 attendees to check-in will receive a special 2024 RWC Wine Walk Wine Glass.
The aim of the wine walk is to generate funds needed to continue vital school programs, including mental health counselors and academic support, according to the Redwood City Education Foundation. As these Bayside schools do not have the fundraising support of a PTO or PTA, they rely heavily on community involvement.
Check-in will remain open until 6:30 p.m. for those who may arrive later.
