CityTrees planted 14 oak trees around Kennedy Middle School on Sept. 17, marking the occasion with a little recognition from the city.
During the planting, a Redwood City Public Works representative presented the volunteer group with a proclamation signed by the City Council declaring Sept. 17 Arbor Day in Redwood City, according to CityTrees President David Grabel.
CityTrees has worked closely with the Public Works Department since the nonprofit was founded in 2000. The all-volunteer group has planted more than 4,100 trees throughout Redwood City and also works to care for trees and advocate for the city’s urban forest.
“CityTrees is honored,” Grabel said.
