A 38-year-old woman died Saturday when a driver hit her with their vehicle and then fled the scene, Redwood City police said on Tuesday.

The incident occurred between 1:30 a.m. and 2:45 a.m. Saturday, March 2, near the northbound lane of El Camino Real and the intersection of Brewster Avenue.

The woman died at the scene, police said.

Police are asking the public for any information leading to the arrest of the driver of the vehicle, model unknown, in this incident.

The name of the woman is being withheld out of respect for the family, according to police.

Anyone with information on this case should contact Det. Wolfe at 650-780-7609.

Last month, a man was struck and killed by a driver as he was walking across the intersection of El Camino Real and Broadway. The victim, Joe Ragsdale, 69, was a Redwood City resident, according to the San Mateo Coroner’s Office.

“At this point, there is nothing that indicates that the driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian was under the influence of anything and is cooperating with the investigation,” Redwood City Police Lt. Nick Perna said at the time.
