Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Good Morning, Redwood City!

I want to start today by welcoming our new blogger Alice Kaufman, who will bring environmental and health-conscious articles to our site. Her posts will appear on the off Wednesday, so be sure to catch those. Her first post: Nature Makes You Healthier, is out now, so make sure you check it out. If you have more ideas for Alice, let her know in the comments or reach out directly by emailing her. You can always tell us what you think by emailing at editor@rwcpulse.com.

Some of your neighbors are urging Caltrans to reopen Woodside two months after it closed due to bad weather. On May 19, State Sen. Josh Becker, D-Menlo Park, Assemblymember Marc Berman, D-Menlo Park, San Mateo County Supervisor Ray Mueller, and Woodside Mayor Chris Shaw and about 40 people shared how the road closure has impacted them. another 150 people attended the meeting on Zoom. Stay tuned for that story later.

And finally, I wanted to acknowledge that it's been one year since the Uvalde massacre. While I realize it's not something that occurred locally, it made an impact nationwide. Our city recently had a mass shooting of its own when a man walked up to five people and shot them while they sat on a Palm Park sidewalk. The incident occurred on a Sunday at 4:30 a.m., but the public wasn't notified until close to 8 p.m. And earlier this week, a child allegedly shot himself in the leg with a 9mm handgun. All of this while the city considers a gun ordinance. What's to come? Thoughts on this?

I want to thank Beverly Morgan for her lovely photo of the view from Upland Road. Very nice!
