Local residents who have died recently include:
Patricia M. Blatt, 95, a Woodside resident for 30 years where she and her husband found a wonderful community, where they made many close, longtime friends and shared summer boating trips to Shasta house, who was a member of the Peninsula Ski Club, who was a member of many other groups, including: Woodside/Portola Valley Newcomers, Children’s Home Society, the Woodside Village Church Guild Hall, and participated in many of the stage productions at Woodside Elementary School’s George Sellman Auditorium, who played in many Woodside SWAT tennis tournaments, and who enjoyed a career as a travel agent, on June 6, 2024.
Mark B. Hancock, 72, born at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto and raised in South Palo Alto where his parents settled in a housing subdivision after WWII, was a bird caller who loved space, who was a land developer, who was known to be quirky, who was an avid photographer, who became an avid ballooner, who helped commemorate “The Wave” at Cubberley High School in Palo Alto in 1967, who helped produce a documentary called “Lesson Plan” in 2010 with his former classmates involved in The Wave and who received an honorary Ph.D., on May 26, 2024.
