From long lines at Ramen Nagi and Din Tai Fung to massive food halls such as Eataly and Asia Live, Westfield Valley Fair has cemented itself as more than a shopping center: It’s a foodie destination.

The Santa Clara mall is bringing back Foodie Week this year from Sept. 19-27, with select restaurants and eateries offering discounts and deals. Nick the Greek is offering a BOGO on bowls, while Shack Shack is giving a free milkshake with a $10 purchase, just to name a few.

Plenty of new food spots have opened at Valley Fair just this year – including Tai Er Sichuan Cuisine, IJ Sushi Burrito, Asia Live and HeyTea – with more on the way. Here’s when these highly anticipated restaurants are expected to debut at Valley Fair.

Chubby Tan: October or November

Expected to debut in Valley Fair October or November, Chubby Tan offers a variety of combo sets featuring grilled beef tongue. More specifically, the restaurant uses the tan-moto, a certain part of the beef tongue known for its rich marbling and delicate texture, to make its signature dish, the Kiwami Steak.

Chubby Tan is a collaboration between Gyutan no Lemon, a Japanese restaurant chain known for its thick-cut, charcoal-grilled beef tongue, and Chubby Group, an American restaurant group specializing in modern, elevated Asian dining. Chubby Group also owns Mikiya Wagyu Shabu House, which has locations in San Mateo and Santa Clara.

Chubby Tan has locations in Rowland Heights and New York, with combos (which include beef tongue, rice, salad, beef soup, beef curry and dipping sauces) priced at those locations from $44-$54.

CHAGEE: November

Considered by some to be the “Starbucks of tea,” CHAGEE is one of the most widespread cafes in China. Since its founding in 2017 in Yunnan, CHAGEE has grown to more than 6,000 stores worldwide and made its United States debut in Los Angeles in 2025.

CHAGEE is not a boba shop – in fact, you won’t find any boba or jellies available. Instead, the brand focuses on tea lattes, in flavors such as Boya jasmine, peach oolong, amber oolong, Ceylon black and roasted black. Matcha options are also available. Prices at the Los Angeles location range from $5.95-$9.45 a drink.

Izumi Revolving Sushi: December

Plates of nigiri, rolls and appetizers glide past your seat via conveyor belt at this revolving sushi restaurant. Izumi Revolving Sushi opened in Daly City in 2020, in Westfield Oakridge Mall in San Jose in 2025 and is expected to open at Westfield Valley Fair in December.

Guests can pick from a variety of options circulating on a conveyor belt, or order a specific dish on the table’s touch-screen tablet. At the end of the meal, the server calculates your plates to determine the final bill.

Options available at the San Jose location include appetizers such as chicken karaage and kimchi cucumber, gunkan sushi including baby scallops and ebi mayo; nigiri such as maguro and o-toro; special nigiri including albacore ankimo and chu toro; and kitchen food, such as beef donburi and beef udon.

Kajiken: TBD

Originally planned to open in spring of 2026, Kajiken’s Valley Fair debut has been pushed back and does not have an opening month set at this time.

The aburasoba restaurant was created in Nagoya, Japan, in 2010, and has since expanded to China, Singapore and the United States. Its San Mateo outpost was established in 2023, and earned a spot on the Michelin Guide that year.

Aburasoba is somewhat similar to ramen, but instead of broth, the flavor comes from oil and sauce. Noodles are made in house, and guests are encouraged to customize their aburasoba to their liking. The top-selling aburasoba is the homura variation, featuring spicy minced pork, green onions, bamboo shoots, seaweed, fish powder, chives and a raw egg yolk. Aburasoba at the San Mateo location is priced at $16.50-$22.95 a bowl.
