Stanford Health Care will lay off 95 employees this fall, the organization announced. Employees will remain on payroll until Nov. 2, when the layoffs will take effect.
The 95 employees are in the technology and digital solutions and other administrative departments, Stanford Health Care spokesperson Lisa Kim disclosed.
The worksite of the affected employees is 1830 and 1840 Embarcadero Road in Palo Alto.
“Stanford Health Care regularly reviews its operations and the needs of the patients we serve to ensure our workforce is aligned with those evolving needs,” Kim said in a statement. “We are providing active support for redeployment within the organization where possible and opening new roles with the opportunity for impacted employees to apply. These positions do not provide direct patient care, and the changes will not affect our ability to deliver high-quality care to our patients.”
Kim declined to comment on the factors that drove the layoffs.
Of the roles impacted, 23 employees had the title “principal clinical systems analyst,” according to an Aug. 28 public WARN filing with the state’s Employment Development Department. An additional 13 positions were categorized as “team lead – IT clinical applications” and 16 positions were in the human relations department.
This is the second batch of layoffs from a Stanford entity in as many years. Last year, 363 staff members were laid off from Stanford University. Stanford Health Care and Stanford University are separate legal entities, though they work in close partnership.
