An early-morning fire on Vera Avenue in Redwood City damaged an under-construction affordable housing project. No one was injured in the fire on Vera Avenue, which was first reported at 2:17 a.m. on Feb. 8.

Firefighters from the Redwood City Fire Department an the Menlo Park Fire Protection District responded and were on scene for more than an hour, according to Redwood City Fire Battalion Chief Glendon Chan.

He said the cause of the fire was under investigation.

“It was basically a shell of a building (before the fire),” Chan said.

A short video posted by the fire department on social media showed visible flames shooting above the roofline into the night sky.

This version removes an incorrect location for the fire.
