On Thursday, the City of Redwood City will hold its first quarterly speaker series event, Innovate RWC, featuring the CEO of a company that makes lower-carbon home climate systems.
The free event that’s open to the public will serve as a platform to highlight Redwood City’s enterprising talent, featuring speakers from both emerging startups and globally recognized firms and offering insight into their work, its community impact and its career opportunities.
“Many residents may not realize the scale of the work happening right here,” said Amanda Anthony, Redwood City’s economic development director. “Innovate RWC is about creating connections, helping our community better understand these industries and opening the door to inspiration and opportunity.”
The inaugural event at Cañada College will feature Paul Lambert, the co-founder and CEO of Quilt. Redwood City-based Quilt makes lower-carbon home climate systems, which are fully electric and feature high-efficiency heat pump technology. The conversation will span climate innovation, entrepreneurship and future tech, as well as ideas on career paths and lessons learned.
In 2022, after identifying climate change as the greatest challenge the next generation faces, Lambert began to develop solutions focused on sustainable home climate tech and went on to found Quilt. Lambert built his first internet business as a teenager, founding the education platform Learndot and serving as a partner at Area 120, Google’s innovation incubator.
“Addressing climate change felt like one of the most important challenges to work on,” said Lambert. “It’s special to do that work here in Redwood City, and I’m excited to be part of a series that brings the community closer to the innovation happening around them.”
The event on Thursday, April 2, runs from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at The Grove, located in Building 5 at Cañada College, 4200 Farm Hill Blvd. Sign up for this event via this link.
